Stainless steel is low-maintenance, while bronze is high-maintenance. Stainless steel will keep its good looks with nothing more than regular cleaning once a week, or as needed. It is not affected by acidic foods, drinks or cleaners. Bronze should be rinsed and wiped dry after every use. It is easily damaged by certain foods, harsh cleaners or even everyday items such as soap and toothpaste that are not washed away immediately. Polished or brushed bronze must be coated with wax regularly to prevent the metal from turning dark as it develops a patina.
